In the village of Marasia in Evros, right on the river Evros which is the border with Turkey near Triethnos, that is the point where the borders of Greece, Turkey and Bulgaria meet. My grandmother (my mother's mother) comes from this village

In this village, the "Lady of Marasia" is honored with her bust next to the border, a lady of the village who all the years, even in the difficult times of winter, offered drinks, hot home-made food to the hard-working soldiers of the outpost next to her house and raised daily the Greek flag in the yard of her house
